The San Francisco Police Department's Honda Unit recently apprehended a 49-year-old man, Haleem Williams, on suspicion of MDMA/Ecstasy sales following a series of buy-bust operations near Golden Gate Park, where he was allegedly dealing drugs during a music festival. An initial investigation was sparked after Park Rangers reported the activity, the San Francisco Police Department reported.
The operations that took place on December 4 and December 12 led to an arrest last Thursday when Williams supposedly transacted $1,500 worth of suspected MDMA pills; police apprehended Williams without incident in the vicinity of Mint and Mission Streets, they also found a backpack with more suspected narcotics and items commonly used for the sale of narcotics, and the search extended to his vehicle where they found a loaded ghost gun.
Upon detaining Williams and performing a search, SFPD seized 193.5 grams of MDMA pills. Police Chief Derrick Lew emphasized the gravity of such crimes, stating, "The SFPD will not tolerate anyone who sells drugs in our city," and commended the Honda Unit for "their diligent efforts in holding criminals accountable and preventing more drugs from flowing into San Francisco to harm our communities," as obtained by the police department's news release.
Williams now faces multiple charges, including selling, transporting, administering narcotics, carrying a loaded firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The SFPD has taken him to the San Francisco County Jail, noting that the investigation remains active.
