In an unusual string of break-ins, police apprehended a man for allegedly entering homes in Golden Beach on Christmas sans attire. NBC Miami reports that 26-year-old Vladimir Demidovich was charged with burglary and criminal mischief. Authorities say that when officers arrived at one of the homes on Ocean Boulevard, they found Demidovich hiding in the garage. As he was taken into custody, Demidovich directed the police to another residence where, reportedly, his clothes awaited on the second floor.
Drinking beverages and allegedly plotting to steal items, Demidovich entered the homes reportedly without permission. After his court appearance yesterday, his bond was set at $15,000, an indication of the gravity of these naked intrusions.
In another disruptive incident, an abandoned clubhouse in Coral Springs suffered extensive damage due to a fire that broke out early this morning. The Local 10 News detailed that the former golf course's clubhouse was fully engulfed in flames when the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department arrived on the scene. Firefighters rushed to control the blaze, which produced thick black smoke, concerned about its proximity to a nearby Marriott hotel.
While the fire at 11800 block of Heron Bay Boulevard was successfully extinguished, neighbors were familiar with the longtime community structure that had fallen into disuse. "It’s an abandoned golf course. I think they’re building a Lifetime Fitness over there if I’m not mistaken," Vincent Dinolfo, a local resident, told Local 10 News. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
