
A tragic crash in Wayne County has led to the death of a 13-year-old and injuries to four other teenagers, as reported by multiple sources. The incident involved a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox that the Wayne County Sheriff's Office determined was stolen before the accident, which occurred near the Indiana-Ohio border. Fox59 notes that the vehicle, carrying five occupants, veered off the road and collided with trees early Saturday morning, around 2:33 a.m. on Greenmount Pike.
According to the WTHR, Authorities found a vehicle on the north side of State Line Road, where it had struck several trees after failing to navigate a curve onto Greenmount Pike. A 13-year-old front-seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver, two other 17-year-olds, and an 18-year-old were injured. One 17-year-old was treated at Reid Health Hospital in Richmond, while the others were airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident, examining factors such as vehicle operation and road conditions. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Richmond two days earlier, adding complexity to the investigation, as indicated by Dayton 247 Now.
