
An early Thursday morning crash in Tempe has resulted in the tragic death of a teenage motorcyclist. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident occurred just after midnight on Dec. 11 when a motorcycle, carrying two individuals, lost control at the Red Mountain Loop 202 westbound on-ramp at Priest Drive.
"The motorcycle went down. While the passenger managed to walk away with minor injuries, a vehicle struck the motorcycle driver, who was pronounced deceased on the scene," the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported. The passenger escaped with minor injuries; the driver's untimely demise paints a stark contrast between fortune's twist. Two vehicles that were involved in the aftermath of the crash remained at the scene, as drivers cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
The 12News update identified the deceased motorcyclist as a 17-year-old girl. Despite the efforts of emergency services, her life could not be salvaged. The roadway, marred by the accident, was reopened just before 5 a.m., officials noted, concluding hours of investigation and clean-up.
