During this year’s Thanksgiving holiday, Tennessee reported 8 traffic fatalities, the same as last year. The deaths occurred in McNairy, Shelby, Franklin, Marion, Washington, Wilson, and Williamson counties, including 2 incidents in Franklin, according to the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
Law enforcement maintained a heightened presence to manage holiday travel, with "troopers stationed every 20 miles" to ensure safety. Despite these efforts, the fatalities show the risks on Tennessee roads during the holiday period, as reported by the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
During the holiday period, the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to 902 motorist assist calls and investigated 566 property-damage crashes and 243 injury crashes. These numbers are preliminary and may change as reports are finalized, as stated by the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
