The arrest of a previously unidentified third suspect linked to a Brockton shooting in July 2024, which resulted in the death of Romualdy Pierre-Charles, marks a significant development in the case. According to a post shared by Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz, Victor Oliviera, 22, was apprehended at his Brockton home and faced arraignment earlier today.
Oliviera is now facing multiple charges: First-Degree Murder, illegal firearm possession and use, and assault with a dangerous weapon. As reported by Tim Cruz, Oliviera was detained yesterday, and, this morning, held in custody without bail. The co-defendants, Govanni Carapinha and Marcus Miranda, were similarly arraigned in August and remain in custody without the opportunity for release.

The events of that fateful July night unfolded when Brockton Police received emergency calls at approximately 11:51 p.m., reporting a shooting on Vesey Street. Upon arrival, police discovered 22-year-old Pierre-Charles with multiple gunshot wounds, his life cut short behind a Vesey Street residence. Surveillance footage played a critical role in piecing together the moments leading up to the incident, revealing three individuals dressed in black closing in on the home.
Forensic evidence, including shell casings from the scene and eleven bullets retrieved from the victim, helped guide investigators. Notably, the break in identifying Oliviera came when law enforcement matched a fingerprint found on the gray Infiniti, used to transport Carapinha away from the scene, to Oliviera's records. Following the shooting, Carapinha had sustained a leg injury, and was ushered to Boston Medical Center by his accomplices, as detailed by Cruz and seen on hospital security cameras.
Oliviera is expected back in court on February 12th, for a pre-trial conference. The ongoing investigation and legal process continue to seek justice for Pierre-Charles, with the latest arrest shedding further light on the tragic events of last year. Oliviera's legal counsel has not provided a statement regarding the allegations as of this writing.
