St. Charles Parish drivers will need to adjust their routes as several road and lane closures impact travel. Jonathan Street in Destrehan is currently shuttered indefinitely, with only emergency traffic permitted access via Bunge’s heavy haul road. This detour allows vehicles to navigate around Lorraine Street and reach Noel Street from the rear of the facility, as detailed in an update on the St. Charles Parish’s website.
In what might seem like a game of musical chairs for motorists, Ormond Center Court is also experiencing closures. Drivers will find the stretch from 150 Ormond Center Court to 3001 Ormond Boulevard out of commission due to ongoing roadwork. A detour has been arranged, so traffic won't be at a complete standstill, guiding vehicles through the area around the construction site.
According to an announcement on the St. Charles Parish website, major work on LA 3127 is slated. Starting November 3, 2025, and expected to run through October 30, 2026, there will be intermittent and alternating lane closures to facilitate the installation of drainage structures and the application of new asphalt surfaces.
Oversized loads have received a restriction, capped at a width of 12 feet, likely complicating plans for some truckers. The advised detours for eastbound travelers include taking LA 3213 north to LA 641, then I-10 east to I-310 south, while those heading west are suggested to take I-310 north to I-10 west, then LA 641 south to LA 3213 south — all in an effort to circumnavigate the work zone.
Furthermore, essential utility work will bring about more interruptions with single lane and shoulder closures anticipated on both directions of LA 3127 and LA 3160, from December 6 through February 27, 2026. These closures, set for off-peak hours, are designed to minimize the impact on the daily commute, with work taking place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The affected segments begin at I-310 on LA 3127 and end at the Railroad Crossing on LA 3160, as per St. Charles Parish.
