Two men lost their lives in a tragic incident on Christmas Eve when they were hit by a train in Flagstaff, Arizona. FOX 10 Phoenix reports that the collision occurred just after 7 p.m. near the crossroads of East Nestle Purina Avenue and East Industrial Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding Flagstaff Police officers found the two men who had been struck by an eastbound train to both be dead. According to information obtained by ABC 15, it is believed that the victims were part of a group of three attempting to cross the railroad tracks, with one man faltering and falling onto the tracks. The second man tried to quickly help him up when the train approached and struck them both.
As of now, the identities of the deceased have not been released. The Flagstaff Police Department issued a reminder following the incident, stating, "The Flagstaff Police Department reminds the public that railroad tracks are private property and pose significant danger. Trains cannot stop quickly. Pedestrians are urged to use designated crossings only and to avoid railroad right-of-way areas at all times," as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The investigation into the unfortunate event remains ongoing. Flagstaff Police are coordinating with railroad officials to more fully understand the circumstances. ABC 15 mentioned that the police are still looking into how the crash happened, as the community mourns the loss of these individuals.
