Students and faculty at the University of Cincinnati may need to plan ahead this holiday season if they're anticipating any tech hiccups. The university's IT Service Desk, courtesy of Digital Technology Solutions, is taking a break along with the rest of the campus for the Winter Season Days. Starting from Dec. 24, through Jan. 1, 2026, there won't be any desks open for walking up to solve your digital dilemmas.
According to UC News, normal service will resume right after the holiday lull on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. However, the institution isn’t leaving its community completely in the cold. For urgent support, the IT Knowledge Base, stocked full with hundreds of articles, UC custom how-to guides, and FAQs, will remain accessible throughout the closure.
The announcement on the university’s news page also specified, "Need help with passwords or Duo 2FA? Go to the Passwords page on uc.edu for info about passwords and two-factor authentication with Duo." The IT Knowledge Base is linked with resources such as a Password Self Service and a Duo Two-Factor Authentication Self-Enrollment Guide, not forgetting how one can manage devices in Duo, therefore, it's a treasure trove for self-help during the break.
Now, while the DTS crew themselves are off enjoying the winter festivities, the university has made sure that Canvas-related catastrophes don't go unnoticed. A national Canvas Support team is scheduled to be on-call 24/7. "Start a chat support session in Canvas. Click the 'Help' icon in the left-hand navigation menu and select 'Chat With Canvas Support," the university has directed. And for those who prefer the clarity of voice on the line, there's also the option to "call 24/7 Canvas Support" at (513) 556-HELP from your personal phone or 6-HELP from a university phone. Simply select option 3.
