Charges have been brought against a Utah woman, Elleshia Anne Seymour, for allegedly taking her four children out of the country contrary to custody agreements. The Salt Lake County District Attorney has levied four counts of custodial interference against Seymour, each a third-degree felony, as reported by KSLTV. The children's names have been released as part of an Endangered Missing Advisory: Landon Seymour, Levi Parker Seymour, Hazel Raye Seymour, and Jacob Kurt Brady, their ages ranging from 3 to 11.
According to court documents referenced by FOX 13, Seymour's vehicle was found at Salt Lake City International Airport where footage showed her and her children boarding a flight to Amsterdam, which eventually ended in Croatia, on Nov. 29. Even though meant for checking their welfare by two of Seymour’s colleagues, the police were alerted to a possible problem on Dec. 2, and discovered her home abandoned with plans in a notebook to shred documents and discard phones. Charged with removing her children from the state, Seymour's current whereabouts remain unknown, and an active, no-bail arrest warrant is pending in Utah.
Additionally, one of the fathers reportedly received a voicemail from Seymour claiming to be in France with the children, suggesting an urgency to find a permanent residence because of "end times" concerns, disclosed by ABC4. Prosecutors expressed they believe Seymour "appears to have no intention to return the children to the United States" and could represent a risk to her kids due to her "emotional breakdowns and hallucinations" and what have been described as "extreme beliefs" related to apocalyptic events. Witnesses have reportedly expressed that the mother has been experiencing emotional breakdowns.
The fathers of the children were not notified nor consented to Seymour's alleged departure from the country with their children, a critical factor in the decision to file charges. The timeline for Seymour to return the kids to their fathers had long elapsed, according to court documents. The FBI is aiding the investigation, illustrating the seriousness of the situation and the potential for escalating involvement by law enforcement on an international scale.
