Yesterday, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Sonoma Boulevard in Vallejo. The Vallejo Police Department reported that their officers and emergency medical services attempted to save the individual, but unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as Morris Turner, 48, from American Canyon, was at the scene when authorities arrived and was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.

According to the social media post from the Vallejo Police Department, Turner was taken to a local hospital following the incident, where investigators obtained a warrant to collect a blood sample rapidly. This latest tragedy brings the tally to thirteen fatal traffic collisions investigated by the department in 2025, with a total of sixteen traffic-related deaths so far in the community.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been made public, awaiting next of kin to be notified by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office. The Vallejo Police Department's Traffic Division is actively continuing the investigation into the events that led to the pedestrian's death.
