A routine traffic stop by the Horizon City Police Department led to the arrest of a wanted subject in the early hours of Thursday, December 11. Police officers pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation in the 14400 block of Rudi Kuefner, where they discovered that passenger David Valentine Rodriguez was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a social media post by the Horizon City Police Department.
During the stop, which occurred at approximately 12:21 AM, officers conducted a warrant check on both the driver and Rodriguez. The check revealed Rodriguez's active criminal warrant issued by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, with a bond set at $20,000. While processing Rodriguez at HCPD Headquarters, officers found a controlled substance concealed within his personal property, leading to an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance PG1/1-B (1G–4G).
As a result, Rodriguez was transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he was booked with a total bond amount of $21,000. The details of Rodriguez's crime were not disclosed in the public report. The driver of the vehicle, who was not named, was released without charges. The police encouraged anyone who observes suspicious activity or has information that may assist officers to contact HCPD at (915) 852-1047, or to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
The arrest serves as a reminder of the Horizon City Police Department's ongoing efforts to address crime within their jurisdiction. Horizon City, which is located just east of El Paso, Texas, often collaborates with neighboring law enforcement agencies for warrants and public safety. "If you observe suspicious activity or have information that may assist officers, please contact HCPD," the Horizon City Police Department reiterates, underscoring their commitment to maintaining the safety and security of its residents.
