A major water main break early this morning in Mount Lebanon has disrupted the daily flow for residents and schools alike. According to a report by WPXI, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of McNeilly Road. Subsequently, the local water supply has been temporarily shut down, leaving approximately 75 customers, including those at the Dorchester Apartments, without access to water.
While American Water is actively working to restore service, they estimate that water will not be back on until later today. They also reported that a contractor will be assisting two customers with property damage related to the break. Meanwhile, nearby schools have had to quickly adjust—Seton LaSalle High School announced a two-hour delay this morning.
Despite the challenges presented by the water main break, Keystone Oaks High School and the Salvation Army have not been affected, as per WTAE. Pennsylvania American Water urged drivers to avoid the area, noting the route will likely remain difficult to traverse for some time due to repair efforts.
