Williamson County, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, marked the culmination of work on Sonterra Boulevard with a ribbon-cutting event this past Monday. The collaborative initiative focused on enhancing safety and streamlining travel at a key intersection in Jarrell, specifically where the northbound Interstate 35 frontage road meets Sonterra Boulevard, as per Williamson County.

As noted by Pct. 4 Commissioner Russ Boles, while attending the ceremony, the completion of the project stands as a testament to local engagement and infrastructural investment. “I’m excited to see the Sonterra Boulevard project completed," Boles expressed, as reported by Williamson County's official website. He continued, shedding light on the project's background, "Many residents raised issues with this intersection. Through our 2023 voter-approved road bond program, we were able to address their concerns with the addition of the right-turn lane onto Sonterra Boulevard and drainage improvements along the project."

It was not just the county's resources plowed into the project. Local voters have consistently shown their support for infrastructure enhancements, backing the road bonds that funded such endeavors. Boles added, amid the backdrop of the new roadway, “I’m thankful to our project contractor, Mills Construction, for seeing that this project was completed ahead of schedule. I’m also grateful for our residents who consistently vote in favor of our road bonds for construction projects that make improvements across Williamson County," in a statement made by Williamson County.

Huitt-Zollars served as the project engineer, and Mills Construction was the contractor. County officials said the Sonterra Boulevard project cost $566,829.31 and was paid for through the voter-approved 2023 Williamson County road bond.
