Last Saturday morning, a confrontation in Jacksonville's Magnolia Gardens neighborhood led to gunfire, injuring one woman. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported that a ShotSpotter alert was activated around 3:45 a.m. on Begonia Road, just south of Edgewood Avenue. According to News4JAX, a woman in her early 20s was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her right hand.
Detectives reported that the altercation involved a group of people and caused property damage. First Coast News stated that the fight included 10 to 20 individuals who knew each other and had recently had a disagreement. During the incident, both sides displayed weapons, resulting in a shooting by a female suspect believed to be in her late teens or early 20s.
Several individuals were detained for questioning, but no additional arrests have been reported. Authorities stated that the people involved knew each other and had recently experienced a falling out. The victim’s injuries are not expected to cause long-term health issues.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to process the scene and seek witnesses and video evidence. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has released a description of the suspect and is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
