A tragic incident on Main Street in Northbridge has claimed the life of a young man after his vehicle struck a tree yesterday evening. The Northbridge Police Department shared details of the accident in a social media post, explaining that Zachary Dawe, 21, of the Whitinsville section of the Town of Northbridge, was the sole occupant and operator of the vehicle.
The crash occurred at around 7:20 p.m., when Dawe was ejected from his vehicle after it went off-road and collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Northbridge Police Department. The preliminary investigation has brought to light that excessive speed and possibly alcohol were factors contributing to the severe nature of the crash.
Sergeant Jeffrey White, a member of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) Accident Reconstruction Team, is currently leading the investigation into this distressing event. The team is working closely with the Northbridge Police Department to piece together the circumstances that led to Dawe's untimely death.
