Attention commuters and residents along Westfield Drive: Tennessee Department of Transportation has contracted Southern Constructors for a $1.48 million repair of the Westfield Drive bridge over I-26, starting February 2. The work will include expansion joint and deck repairs, as well as general concrete fixes, with construction signs and temporary traffic signals installed immediately, according to the City of Kingsport.
Weekend lane closures on I-26 are expected starting mid-March, affecting traffic near the bridge. The project will continue through its scheduled completion, requiring drivers to plan for ongoing route changes, as reported by the City of Kingsport.
The City of Kingsport announced that Tennessee Department of Transportation and Southern Constructors will carry out repairs including "expansion joint repair, parapet wall repair, deck repair, general concrete repair, epoxy injection, epoxy overlay, texture coating surfaces, and miscellaneous other items." The work, announced at a pre-construction conference last Thursday, will affect traffic, and drivers should expect delays and follow posted detours.
