Shaler Township has become the latest stage for a series of vehicle thefts, with two 18-year-olds now facing charges for their alleged weekend spree. According to WPXI, the duo, identified as Samuel Ruano and Jacob Klugh, both residents of Shaler, were nabbed last night after residents, alerted by their doorbell cameras, called in suspicious activity.
Police records show that the two were taken into custody in the area of Rosebriar Road/Avenue. Ruano and Klugh are facing charges that include theft from a motor vehicle and criminal trespass. The situation escalated when Ruano, finding himself running from the police, got onto an electric scooter and attempted a fleeting escape, only to return and walk back towards the officers, as reported by WTAE. Klugh, meanwhile, was detained near a pickup truck where he and Ruano had been hiding behind.
Both suspects have been transported to Allegheny County Jail, and preliminary hearings are set for January 22.
