A quad rider, aged 49, was rescued in Yavapai County after failing to return from what was supposed to be a brief journey, officials said. The man departed his Spring Valley home at 6 a.m. on January 20th for a ride estimated to last under an hour, but as the hours ticked by and there was no sign of him, concern escalated, prompting his family to contact the authorities.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, a call for the missing individual came in around 1:30 p.m., and the search teams vigorously scoured the surrounding dirt roads and neighborhoods. By 5:30 pm, the search party located the injured rider at the bottom of a wash near Duffer’s Road, not far from his starting point, despite the fact that he was aware and conscious, his injuries prevented him from walking or scaling the wash's depths on his own.

Rescue efforts were led by the Mayer Fire Department, which managed to safely extract the man from the tough terrain. Following the successful rescue, he was transported for medical treatment to address his injuries.

"The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office wants to extend its deepest gratitude to our search, and rescue teams and to Mayer Fire for their quick response and for finding the rider before the situation worsened," stated the Sheriff’s office. "YCSO sends well wishes for his recovery." This incident underscores the importance of immediate action and the readiness of local search and rescue squads in times of emergency.
