Route 120’s morning regulars could soon have one more reason to veer off their usual coffee run. Drive-thru chain 7 Brew is lining up a freestanding kiosk at the Belvidere West Commons development in Grayslake, across from the Jewel-Osco near Route 83. With village approvals in place and the developer carving out room for a standalone building, franchise operators are eyeing a late summer or fall 2026 opening as the brand keeps growing its Chicagoland presence.
Village Signs Off On Site Changes
Grayslake officials have approved an amended site layout, updated architectural facades, and revised retail elevations to make way for a freestanding 7 Brew at Belvidere West Commons on Route 120, across from the Jewel grocery store, according to the Daily Herald. The sign-off clears the zoning and design hurdles so the coffee stand can operate as its own building instead of being attached to an inline retail strip. Renderings shared with the outlet show the kiosk positioned near a recently completed retail building and a planned multi-tenant center within the development.
Franchisee Locks In Local Deal
Franchise operator Who Brew LLC, which runs multiple 7 Brew locations in the region, has a contract on the Grayslake site and told local media it hopes to break ground in early April, according to Patch. The group already operates nearby shops in Round Lake Beach and Lake Zurich, so the Grayslake kiosk would plug into an existing suburban network rather than stand alone. Company representatives and village officials have noted that the construction and opening timetable still depend on permitting and weather, so the late summer or fall target remains tentative.
What Will Be On The Menu
According to its posted menu on 7 Brew, the chain serves a mix of hot and cold-brew coffees alongside energy drinks, its signature “7 Fizz” sodas finished with cream, plus teas, lemonades, smoothies, and shakes. The brand leans hard into customization, touting thousands of possible flavor combinations, and has been rolling out seasonal offerings and matcha-based drinks in recent months. Company materials also spotlight community giving as a key part of its growth playbook.
Timeline And Neighborhood Impact
The planned kiosk will join a crowded caffeine corner that already includes national chains such as Starbucks and Dunkin, and it sits about five miles west of I-94, a location that positions it to catch commuter traffic, according to What Now Chicago. The outlet also reported that it reached out to Who Brew for additional comment and was awaiting a response. If construction starts in April as anticipated, the Grayslake 7 Brew could be pouring drinks by late summer or fall, pending final permits, inspections, and cooperative weather, with local reporting consistently treating that schedule as subject to change.
