On New Year’s Day, an Acworth police officer used a LifeVac device to save an elderly resident at the North Star Square Assisted Living Facility. Bodycam footage captured the officer’s response to a resident who was choking and unable to breathe. According to FOX5 Atlanta, Officer Anthony Salone retrieved the anti-choking device from his vehicle and immediately intervened after CPR had been started.
The incident involving the choking resident was a critical medical emergency, as brain damage can occur within four to six minutes without oxygen. Officer Salone acted quickly, using the LifeVac device to successfully clear the woman’s airway.
After the intervention, medical personnel took over care of the senior. This incident represents the third time Acworth Police officers have used the LifeVac device to save a choking victim, as per WSB Radio.
