Nine years have passed, yet the wounds remain fresh for the family of Lamar Murphy, the Hayward High School student whose life was abruptly ended by an assailant's bullet on a cold January night in 2017. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office took to social media this morning, on the anniversary of the tragedy, to renew their call for information that could lead to answers and, with hope, the closure that Lamar's family has sought for nearly a decade now.

The case, which has stayed unsolved despite the passage of time, centers around the fatal shooting that occurred at the corner of Princeton Street and Smalley Avenue in Hayward, CA, where the shooter, on that fateful evening, made an escape as a passenger in a 2011-2015 silver Ford Explorer.

In tandem with the plea for leads, there is also substance, the substantial offering of a $50,000.00 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for snuffing out Lamar's future. The Investigations Line of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office stands ready at (510) 667-3636, as does their Anonymous Tip Line at (510) 667-3622 for those who wish to contribute to the cause without disclosing their identity.
