A Friday night outing for three Albany sisters ended in tragedy when a 16-year-old Albany High School student was fatally struck by a car driven by her older sister, according to police. Authorities identified the teen as Paige McClintock, who was in the street helping push a rolling tool chest with her siblings when the vehicle hit her. The collision happened just after 10 p.m. on Southeast 19th Avenue near Tudor Way; she was taken to a hospital and later died.
How Police Say The Crash Unfolded
According to KOIN, early investigation found the 18-year-old sister behind the wheel was slowly following McClintock and another sibling as they pushed the rolling tool chest in the street when the Nissan Altima struck both the chest and McClintock. Officers seized the Altima for further analysis, and police say the incident remains an active investigation.
Police Appeal And Investigation Status
In a release, Albany Police called the crash "an unimaginable tragedy for this family and our community" and said they do not believe impairment was a contributing factor, according to Yahoo. Investigators urged anyone with information to contact Albany Police as they continue working to piece together the circumstances.
