
Residents of the 1500 block of Newlands Avenue in Burlingame expressed concern when police responded to an attempted residential burglary on Monday. The Burlingame Police Department, acting on a tip from the community, apprehended a suspect in the vicinity with evidence that sealed the case: surveillance footage confirming their involvement in the crime.
According to a social media post from the Burlingame Police Department, the suspect didn't just have a few suspicious items on hand. Officers found burglary tools, along with credit cards and stolen mail, tied to roughly 30 victims. Caught with the proverbial smoking gun, the suspect was booked into San Mateo County Jail on several felony-related charges.
The Burlingame Police Department expressed their appreciation for the residents' initiative. "We appreciate our community members for reporting suspicious activity and helping keep Burlingame safe," they stated.
