Amazon is primed to streamline the online shopping experience for Memphis residents with its first same-day delivery facility in the area. According to information obtained by WREG, the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce announced the plans for a 350,000 square-foot hub located at 4131 Clarke Road in Southeast Memphis, set to commence operations in late 2027.
The facility intends to employ 100 associates, although set amidst the burgeoning logistics credentials of the so-called Digital Delta, it'll amplify Amazon's capacity to cater to growing consumer appetites for rapid delivery services. "Amazon’s continued investment in Memphis shows confidence in our city’s direction and in the people who make it work," Memphis Mayor Paul Young conveyed to Local Memphis. "This new facility brings jobs, growth, and opportunity while reinforcing Memphis’s position as a hub for logistics and innovation."
The Greater Memphis Chamber underscores the station's significance in bolstering Amazon's local package processing and last-mile operations, essential components in the chain that ends with a package at your doorstep. "Memphis is thrilled to welcome Amazon’s new same-day delivery station, a testament to our city’s growing logistics infrastructure and skilled workforce," expressed Ted Townsend, President & CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber, in a statement obtained by WREG.
With over 100 jobs anticipated in addition to independent Amazon Flex delivery partners, the facility is bracing to become a pivotal link in Amazon's expansive distribution network. As reported by Action News 5, this initiative marks a progression towards more immediate delivery options for Memphis customers, eager to embrace the convenience of same-day online shopping.
