In the wake of significant layoffs following Nikola Corporation's withdrawal from Coolidge and Phoenix, ARIZONA@WORK Pinal County and ARIZONA@WORK City of Phoenix rolled up their sleeves to address the crisis with alacrity, earning them the 2025 Arizona Association for Economic Development Golden Prospector Award. This recognition spotlighted their Rapid Response initiative, credited for swiftly connecting affected job seekers with new employment opportunities following the company's exit.
With over 740 job seekers participating and riding in the wake of economic upheaval, their coordinated effort extended across four events. It was during these events that 44 employers found a meeting ground with pre-screened candidates, facilitating hundreds of successful job matches. In an impressive crusade against time and uncertainty, 93 candidates emerged with fresh training to boot, ready to adapt to their new roles.
