As snowfall continues to affect the city, the City of Belleville’s Municipal Government posted on social media that crews have been working overnight to clear and sand roads and sidewalks. The Facebook post noted that snow is expected to continue throughout the day, and crews will remain active to maintain safe conditions.
In the update, the City also shared safety tips for residents during the snow event. Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and avoid unnecessary trips that could interfere with snow removal. The City emphasized giving snowplows plenty of space, warning specifically to never pass a working plow on the right. Street parking is discouraged, as parked vehicles can obstruct plows and hinder road clearing efforts.
The post also stressed proper snow removal at home, advising residents not to shovel or snowblow snow onto streets or sidewalks. The City noted that doing so can create obstacles for crews and other residents, potentially undoing clearing efforts and creating hazardous conditions for pedestrians and drivers.
