St. Louis police are asking for the public's help finding a 75-year-old man with dementia who walked away from his home on foot and never came back. Maurice Dodds left a residence at 3749 Darby St. around 9:30 p.m. Friday, heading toward an unknown destination, and he has not returned since.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department issued an Endangered Silver Advisory for Dodds, according to a report from FOX 2. Police say Dodds has diagnosed medical conditions including dementia, diabetes and high blood pressure, raising concern for his safety the longer he remains unaccounted for.
Dodds is described as a 5-foot-11-inch Black male weighing 195 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes, per the station's report. He was last seen wearing a black and blue cap, a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
How the Advisory System Works
Missouri's Endangered Silver Advisory program exists specifically for cases like this one. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the program was designed to quickly disseminate descriptive information about a missing adult so that citizens in the affected area can watch for the person and notify local law enforcement with any relevant information.
That is essentially what is happening now with Dodds's case, as detailed physical and clothing descriptions circulate in hopes that someone in the Darby Street area or beyond spotted him after he left Friday night. The advisory does not specify where he may have been heading.
How to Help
Anyone with information about Dodds or his whereabouts is urged to immediately call 911 or contact the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department at 314-231-1212. Authorities have not released additional details about search efforts or any possible sightings since he was last seen.
