The Boston Police Department has issued a community alert warning of a recent uptick in early morning commercial burglaries throughout various districts of the city, with incidents dating back to as early as January 14. The break-ins have specifically targeted cash registers after forced entries into businesses by breaking front doors or windows. This spate of burglaries is marked by two separate incidents reported on January 18, between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. in South Boston, with suspects breaking glass fronts to gain access.
According to the alert shared by the Boston Police Department, these burglaries have been occurring mostly during overnight hours, and several reports have also mentioned a suspect apparently choosing to operate a scooter at the scene. The BPD is currently working to thoroughly review all facts and circumstances surrounding these crimes. They are encouraging anyone with information to step forward and contact the District Detectives to aid the ongoing investigations.
