The disappearance of 21-year-old Isabella Comas has prompted the Avondale Police Department to name her boyfriend, Tommy Rodriguez, as a person of interest. As per FOX 10 Phoenix, Comas was last seen on Sunday, leaving a friend's residence in the vicinity of Van Buren Street and Avondale Boulevard. She has been missing ever since, with no known contact.
Comas was reported to be driving a red Hyundai Sonata with Arizona license plate number 2EA6LW. Described by police as a Hispanic female, she stands 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs around 110 pounds, and has brown eyes and notably pink hair. Her last outfit included a baggy navy-blue shirt, blue pants with a white stripe on the side, and sandals. The search to find Comas was quickly initiated, including the discovery of her phone at a Phoenix recycling center on Monday and the issuing of a Turquoise Alert soon after, in hopes to intensively involve the public and aid in her detection.
Details from a Yahoo News article highlighted the January 15 court appearance of Rodriguez. Facing charges of theft of means of transportation and criminal damage, these are noted to relate directly to the investigation of Comas’ disappearance. "Their hearts are aching. They want to find their daughter, their sister, their loved one," Officer Jaret Redfearn of the Avondale Police commented on the Comas family's state.
Rodriguez's criminal history, including a prior murder conviction and other violent crimes, emerged as a focal point during his hearing. Prosecutors emphasized the weight of his past, advocating for his continued detention to prevent any potential destruction of evidence. Despite this, Rodriguez has asserted his cooperation with the investigation and explained a recent one-way trip out of state was for work purposes. Investigations have also established a link between Rodriguez and the return of Comas' cell phone, which was handed back to the family before police obtained it.
The Avondale Police Department stresses the importance of community collaboration, urging anyone with knowledge of the case to step forward. "We greatly appreciate the community’s ongoing support and encourage anyone with information to continue responding to her Turquoise Alert. The tips received so far have been extremely helpful in moving this case forward," law enforcement representatives have stated.
