Keep Cobb Beautiful has extended the deadline for Christmas tree recycling in Cobb County, Georgia, to January 10th. Multiple drop-off locations across the county are part of the 'Bring One for the Chipper' program, where collected trees will be processed into mulch for playgrounds, beautification projects, and gardens, according to Cobb County.
This year’s initiative continues a program that has processed approximately 5.9 million Christmas trees into reusable material since it began. Sponsors including The Home Depot, The Davey Tree Expert Company, and Cobb County Parks, along with local supporters and volunteers, assist in the program’s operation. Mulch produced from the recycled trees is available upon request through a form on the program’s website.
Cobb County residents can bring their de-decorated Christmas trees to any of the nine participating Home Depot locations, including sites on Cobb Parkway in Acworth and the East-West Connector in Austell, among others. Fullers Park is also accepting trees until the extended deadline. Mulch from the collected trees will be used in community spaces and other projects.
