
A Decatur neighborhood was the scene of an early Tuesday standoff that ended with a man in custody. According to the FOX 5 Atlanta and 11Alive report, the DeKalb County Police responded to a 911 call around 4 a.m. about a person being held at gunpoint in the Golden Gate Apartments area.
Officers safely escorted the victim from the residence. The suspect, 34-year-old Christopher Williams, initially refused to exit, prompting SWAT and crisis negotiators to intervene. Williams eventually surrendered peacefully, and no injuries were reported.
DeKalb County Police said the victim and suspect knew each other. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the standoff.
Williams was arrested and faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault/strangulation, false imprisonment, and obstruction. The DeKalb County Police have not disclosed why he allegedly held someone at gunpoint, and the investigation is ongoing.
Williams remains in custody, awaiting the next steps in the legal process.
