Last night, the tranquility of the westbound lanes on Interstate 275 was disrupted when a vehicle collided with a sheriff's deputy cruiser, leading to minor injuries and a brief highway closure. The incident, which occurred near Five Mile in Anderson Township, unfolded shortly after 10 p.m., as confirmed by Hamilton County sheriff's officials. The deputy was attending to a previous accident when the secondary crash transpired. FOX19 reported that both the police cruiser and the vehicle that struck it were rendered inoperative.
Amid ongoing investigations, impairment has not been identified as a contributory factor in the collision, with the sheriff's office emphasizing this point. Subsequent to the crash, all lanes were shut down but later reopened just after 11:30 p.m., reports from Hamilton County dispatchers indicate. Providing further details on the incident, investigators told WLWT that charges in relation to the crash have yet to be determined.
Travelers on I-275 westbound experienced an interruption in their nighttime travel plans as a result of the collision, which necessitated the road's closure for more than an hour. The area near 8-Mile Road became an impromptu site for accident response and vehicle recovery efforts, ultimately leading to the highway's reopening. Local 12, in their depiction of the event, reported that the deputy's cruiser was rear-ended while investigating an auto crash, highlighting the sometimes perilous nature of roadside accident scenes.
As post-collision protocols are strictly observed, the deputy involved, along with the individual driving the other vehicle, both sustained minor injuries, as per the sheriff's officials' statement provided to FOX19.
