For those getting out the door today, they should expect a mix of rain or freezing rain before 9 am transitioning into rain showers, there's also patchy fog that could complicate the morning commute until noon, the NWS reports, temperatures are expected to hover steadily around 36 degrees, with east winds shifting west-southwest in the afternoon with a near-certain 90% chance of precipitation; thankfully, little to no ice accumulation is predicted. Detroit residents may see some respite tonight with only a 30% chance of showers before 10 pm, then a slight chance of drizzle up until the early hours of Wednesday, meanwhile, the fog is expected to roll back in after 11 pm and the mercury isn't expected to deviate much, staying put at around 37 degrees, the westerly winds might bring some gusts reaching up to 21 mph.
The weather on Wednesday presents less of an obstacle, with the NWS anticipating patchy fog lifting before 11 am and giving way to a mostly cloudy day with highs near 40 degrees, carried by a gentler west wind moving at 6 to 9 mph.
Towards the end of the workweek, Detroiters should keep their umbrellas at hand as Thursday carries a 40% chance of rain after 1 pm with temperatures reaching a considerable 49 degrees, a south wind will persist as this prelude to the night where rain seems almost guaranteed, the NWS has heightened to an odds-on 90% chance of precipitation; come Friday, the city should expect the skies to remain mostly cloudy with a high near 48 degrees and a persistent 50% possibility of rain.
The rain may linger into the weekend, with Saturday's conditions being mostly cloudy and a high of 43. Saturday night could see a possible transition with a chance of snow before 1 am, as the temperature drops to about 26 degrees, leading into a mostly cloudy Sunday, albeit with a more brisk high near 32 degrees.
