A shoplifting spree spanning multiple states has come to an end with the arrest of a suspect in South Boston. According to information provided by the Boston Police Department, Long Tran, a 54-year-old Dorchester resident, was detained after allegedly attempting to conceal merchandise at a Target store on Allstate Road last Tuesday.
Tipped off by a report on December 30, officers from District C-6 arrived at the scene around 4:49 p.m. to find the suspect, who had been previously banned from the store in November, allegedly stuffing 27 bottles of lotion into a large duffel bag. The loss prevention officers had stopped the man from leaving the store without payment.
Delving into his history, Tran is believed to have stolen over $56,000 worth of goods from various Target locations. His chronicled escapades across state borders have now reached a judicial endpoint. The suspect is now facing charges of shoplifting by asportation over $250 and trespassing, awaiting his upcoming arraignment in South Boston District Court.
