Douglas County is rallying support for its residents facing adversity with the upcoming Strive to Thrive Resource and Service Fair. Set for the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m., the fair is a beacon for anyone in the community looking to access a range of free services. The fair will take place at a new venue, Calvary Castle Rock, now at 1480 Canyon Drive, according to Douglas County.
Food insecurity and access to basic services remain pressing issues for many. At this event, residents can nourish their bodies with a hot meal, obtain clothing, and gather information about medical assistance services. Moreover, families in attendance can stock up on groceries and grab some essential garments on the spot. Additional community assistance, such as employment support and guidance on how to apply for SNAP, will be readily available at more than 25 service organization booths.
This year, organizers are spicing up the event with a novel feature, a Spring Sports Expo. As striving goes beyond immediate needs, this expo provides a platform for children aged 3-18 to get involved in organized sports, offering scholarships to help alleviate the financial burdens of equipment, uniforms, and registration fees affiliated with participation. It's a chance for a sneak peek at what's in store for the youth's active seasons ahead.
