Doppio Zero, the Bay Area Neapolitan pizzeria, is headed to downtown Livermore and is targeting a summer 2026 opening. The group is eyeing the storefront at 23 S Livermore Ave, according to public filings and a company representative.
The plan shows up in state licensing records: the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s daily new applications report lists a pending application for DOPPIO ZERO LIVERMORE (license number 676084) at that address, according to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. A Doppio Zero representative has also confirmed the company is "targeting a summer 2026" opening, as reported by What Now San Francisco. For now, the timelines on filings and construction remain tentative while the permit process runs its course.
Bay Area Pedigree And What Diners Can Expect
Co-owners Gianni Chiloiro and Angelo Sannino founded Doppio Zero in Mountain View in 2014 and have since expanded the concept around the Bay Area, according to the Mountain View Voice. The Doppio Zero website lists locations in Mountain View, San Francisco, San Carlos, Concord and Campbell, and highlights its wood fired Neapolitan pizzas and Southern Italian menu as core offerings.
Doppio Zero also ranked among the world's top artisan pizza chains, coming in 20th on 50 Top Pizza's recent list, a recognition that has boosted the brand's profile in the East Bay and Peninsula dining scenes.
Licensing, Permits And The Fine Print
The permit filing indicates applications for on site alcohol and catering privileges. Per the state's licensing FAQ, a Type 47 license authorizes on site sales of all alcoholic beverages at a bona fide eating place, while a Type 58 is a caterer's permit that allows licensees to cater off site events, according to the California ABC. If approved, the combination would let the Livermore restaurant operate as a full service bar and take on private events or catering work.
What This Means For Downtown Livermore
Doppio Zero's arrival would join other recent and planned openings in the city, from drive-thru stalwarts to small food concepts, that local outlets say are reshaping downtown's evening options. What Now San Francisco recently covered Meadowlark Dairy’s move to Second Street and other new arrivals.
The group is also expanding outside Livermore. The Doppio Zero website shows a Walnut Creek outpost slated for spring 2026, suggesting the owners are pursuing a wider East Bay rollout that could feed more late-night and catering business to local venues.
The company has not announced a firm opening date for Livermore beyond the summer target. Neighborhood residents and diners can expect construction and permitting updates to be posted in the coming months, and we will keep an eye on filings and Doppio Zero's channels for a firm grand opening date.
