The streets of Downtown Tempe are set to transform into a botanical extravaganza with the anticipated return of the 'Tempe Blooms' event this January. A brainchild of the Downtown Tempe Authority and Arizona Flower Market, the event, which is in its third year, will be held from January 24 to 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. As reported by ABC15, this family-friendly celebration of flowers, music, and art will feature 21 large-scale floral installations, handcrafted by local Arizona florists.
Last year, the event saw over 80,000 visitors, and according to Bethany Kennedy, Director of Marketing at Downtown Tempe Authority, they are "hoping for record turnout this year as well." Alongside the floral displays, the free-to-attend event will offer a host of activities, including live music, mural art, and a market with over 70 vendors showcasing Arizona products. "We’re very excited about this [event]," Kennedy told ABC15.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience unique interactive components such as seminars presented by local floral experts. With topics ranging from event-focused floral arrangements to tropical designs, these sessions aim at inspiring guests to discover their own creative potential with botanicals. Quoting Brennen Rigler, CEO of Arizona Flower Market, The Best of the Southwest shared that the seminars serve not just to admire, but to empower personal creativity.
Adding to the charm, the event will interlace live mural painting with live music, each artist accompanied by matching melodies, creating a symphony of sensory experiences for spectators. The downtown district will come alive, as well, with flower-themed specials offered by local businesses, including cocktails, mocktails, food specials, and merchandise to complement the festivities. Visitors are encouraged to capture and share their experiences on social media with the hashtag #tempeblooms to further spread the joy and beauty of the event.
