Krithers, a white male with a date of birth listed as October 29, 1982, has a history of sexual offenses involving known female teens, which includes sexual contact that at times involved penetration. The Duluth Police Department official release stated Krithers exploited relationships of trust to gain access to his victims, using attention, affection, and in one instance, force to maintain control over them.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Silver Bay Police Department were the investigating agencies in Krithers' case, which led to his conviction and registration requirements under statutes 609.344, 609.25 (charge only), and 609.255. According to the Duluth Police Department, his release from imprisonment occurred on September 16, 2025, and Krithers now resides on the 600 block of North 22nd Avenue West in Duluth, MN, with a recent address change dated January 15, 2026. The Duluth Police Department has clarified that their goal is not to incite fear but to promote public safety through heightened awareness.
As Krithers has served his court-imposed sentence, he is now transitioning back into the community. The notification emphasizes that the Duluth Police Department does not have the authority to dictate where Krithers or individuals with similar legal backgrounds can live, work, or attend school. It is also highlighted that any misuse of this information, such as threats or harassment directed at the offender, could be prosecutable and potentially jeopardize the continued ability of law enforcement to provide such notifications to the public.
The passage of the Registration Act enables tracking of offenders post-release, which was not possible before its enactment. The subsequent Community Notification Act allows law enforcement to disseminate information about many high-risk offenders, thus aiding the community in remaining vigilant.
