The collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, led by the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF), have made significant strides in dismantling a drug trafficking operation in the Duluth/Superior region.

Initial investigations into the Black P Stone street gang began in May 2023 and have since escalated to the arrest of 24 individuals linked to the gang as of a recent crackdown. According to an official press release, the operation has seized various amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, illegal firearms, and currency, striking a substantial blow to the narcotics supply affecting local communities.

The operation conducted yesterday resulted in the culmination of nearly three years of investigatory work, with local, state, and federal agencies joining forces. Over the course of the investigation, the LSVOTF seized over $28,000 in currency and significant quantities of drugs, including 330.2 grams of methamphetamine, 138.62 grams of fentanyl, and 79.33 grams of cocaine from gang operatives.

Further demonstrating the operation's success, total results since May 2023 include 48 arrests and the seizure of 17 firearms. The agencies involved have been recognized for an exceptional display of partnership and professionalism, despite the individual sacrifices made by the investigators involved. Duluth Police Department and LSVOTF expressed their gratitude towards the community and leadership for supporting the extensive, protracted effort.

Among the participating agencies in the task force's operations are the Superior Police Department, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, DEA, FBI, and BATFE, underscoring a comprehensive and united front against drug trafficking and violent crime in the area.

The task force's initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to combating drug-related violence and providing safety to the Northland. With the investigation ongoing, efforts continue to seek out remaining co-conspirators.
