Two El Paso teenagers are facing murder charges in connection with a shooting that occurred in November 2025 on the outskirts of El Paso. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Giovanni Alberto Gutierrez and Gael Adrian Rodriguez, both 17 years old, in relation to the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Jose Sanchez Garcia. KFOX-TV reported that the shooting took place in the 14100 block of Fortuna during the early morning hours of November 14, and the victim succumbed to his injuries a month later, on December 16, 2025.
Responding to a call about shots fired shortly before 2:50 a.m., deputies discovered Sanchez Garcia with a gunshot wound to the torso. After an extensive investigation by the Major Crimes Unit of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and the coordination of the Texas Rangers, the two teen suspects were arrested and are being held without bond. "Thank you to our Major Crimes Unit and the Texas Rangers for their collaboration on this investigation," Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said in KTSM's coverage of the arrests. "We will continue working to ensure justice is served and offenders are held accountable."
The incident, which occurred on a desolate stretch of Fortuna, has garnered attention due to the youth of the suspects and the grave nature of their charges. In reports obtained by KVIA, both Gutierrez and Rodriguez have been booked into jail without the possibility of bond. With the investigation ongoing, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has not disclosed further details regarding what led to the murder.
