Tragedy struck a Fairhaven neighborhood as a man and a woman were discovered deceased in their home on New Year’s Eve. Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn named the individuals as 60-year-old Rafael Pedraza and 51-year-old Brenda Rosario, both residents of the community. The discovery was made when Fairhaven police were summoned to the home located at 22 Jameson Street shortly after 7 p.m. for a welfare check, as reported by WHDH.
Upon arrival, the officers encountered no signs of forced entry, but were met with a somber scene—both Pedraza and Rosario were found lifeless inside the residence. Confirming the details, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office disclosed that drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics were present in the home, pointing to a possible substance-related incident, as stated by WPRI. The officials have yet to release further information on the matter as an autopsy is expected to shed light on the official causes of death.
The district attorney’s office, alongside the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to Quinn's office and the Fairhaven Police Department, are jointly investigating the deaths. The loved ones of Rafael Pedraza and Brenda Rosario now await the results of the ongoing probe, with the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner tasked with conducting the autopsies.
