Hey Y'all Tipsy Taco Bar is tapping out, announcing Thursday that it will close indefinitely and wrap up regular service on Saturday, Feb. 7. The Northeast Minneapolis spot, which opened last spring in the former Betty Danger’s space, quickly became a neighborhood landmark thanks to its Ferris wheel-topped patio at the busy Marshall Avenue and NE Lowry intersection. The announcement came with little explanation from ownership, and for now the Ferris wheel and mini-golf stay put while the future of the space hangs in the balance.
What The Post Said
In a social media post, the team wrote that “after much reflection, we've made the difficult decision to close indefinitely,” and confirmed Feb. 7 as the last day of regular service, as reported by Bring Me The News. The message focused on thanking guests and did not offer any timeline for a possible return.
From Betty Danger's To Hey Y'all
Hey Y'all opened May 3, 2025, at 2501 Marshall Ave. NE and folded Betty Danger’s carnival aesthetic, including the Ferris wheel and mini-golf, into a Tex-Mex, barbecue-leaning concept, according to the Star Tribune. The paper reported that owner Joe Radaich emphasized a playful menu built to move quickly for the large indoor and outdoor capacities.
Events, Calendar And Service
The restaurant’s website shows a packed event calendar with drag brunches, private-event blocks and occasional staffing-related closures, and it directs customers to Instagram for real-time updates. Hey Y'all's calendar lists multiple recent private events and notes the grand opening last May.
What’s Next For The Space
The building that once housed Betty Danger’s was sold late last year and marketed with its Ferris wheel and outdoor attractions as part of the property’s selling points, reporting at the time noted. Bring Me The News covered the sale and earlier plans for the site. It remains unclear whether this latest closure will pave the way for a new concept or leave the high-profile corner sitting idle for a while.
