A former Sycamore Township doctor, Frederick Tanzer, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for making false statements to federal investigators about a 1989 rape case in Cincinnati, reported WLWT. Tanzer, 66, was indicted last December on multiple charges, including using a false document and lying to an agency or officer of the United States.
Tanzer pleaded guilty last September to three counts of making false statements after DNA evidence from a discarded coffee cup linked him to the decades-old crime scene, as per Local12, Tanzer had admitted to breaking into the victim's home, threatening her with a knife, and committing the violent assault while masked, and the statute of limitations prevented his prosecution for the rape despite the DNA match the victim, as she was raped, he lied to the investigators.
In a reveal by FOX19, prosecutors labeled Tanzer a "serial sexual predator," alleging continued sexual violence against women in his life, using drugs to incapacitate his current and ex-wife without their consent. Before his 2024 arrest, Tanzer had practiced medicine across Ohio, Kansas, and Colorado, seamlessly integrating into communities as a healthcare professional while harboring a sinister past.
"Before admitting that he was the man who committed these horrific rapes in 1989, Tanzer lied to the FBI. His DNA confirmed his guilt, and evidence points to Tanzer being a serial rapist," U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II stated, as FOX19 reports, articulating a grim portrayal of the medical practitioner's duplicitous existence, having ensconced himself behind a cloak of professional legitimacy for over 35 years, all the while potentially perpetuating sexual offenses which would ultimately lead to his unraveling.
