Four young men faced a rather abrupt conclusion to their Saturday night festivities when they found themselves under the attentive gaze of Nashville's Violent Crimes Division detectives. The four, identified in a Nashville Police Department press release as Gary Palmer III, 20, Latrego Lewis, 18, Eric Fletcher, 19, and Daequan Moore, 18, were spotted cruising through East Nashville in the comforts of a Nissan Altima that, unbeknownst to them, was reported stolen mere moments before.
According to the Nashville Police Department, the illicit joyride took a sharp turn toward the less joyful after the Nissan recklessly paraded around East Nashville, tearing down I-65 South and Briley Parkway before coming to rest on Opry Mills Drive; it was there detectives methodically approached and apprehended the occupants, foreshortening any aspirations of flight they might have harbored. The driver, Palmer, who thought it best to resist, soon learned that the arms of the law were not to be evaded, breaking bad turned worse as detectives discovered the vehicle harboring not only four unauthorized passengers but also four loaded handguns, adding a serious twist to grand theft auto.
All four individuals were swiftly whisked away into custody, the details of their indiscretion laid bare: motor vehicle theft, a charge that hung collectively over their heads. For Palmer, the list extended to include reckless driving and felony evading arrest, a trifecta securing him a spot behind bars on a $35,000 bond, while his cohorts—Lewis, Fletcher, and Moore—received $10,000 bonds each for their part in the evening's caper.
