In an early morning tragedy that shook a quiet Lawrenceville neighborhood, four individuals were found dead from gunshot wounds in a home on Brook Ivy Court. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Gwinnett County police received a "shots fired" call around 2:30 a.m. yesterday. Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered the bodies inside of the residence.
Three children were on the scene at the time of the shooting, managing to hide in a closet and contact authorities. These brave actions led to the rapid arrival of police officers at the location. "One of the children managed to call 911," an official from the Gwinnett County Police Department told FOX 5 Atlanta. The children have been confirmed to be unharmed and are now with a family member.
A suspect, believed to be related to the victims, was located near the crime scene and taken into custody without incident. K-9 units played a crucial role in apprehending the suspect, tracking him to a nearby woodline. The identity of the suspect has yet to be disclosed by the police.
While the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, authorities are considering it to be a domestic-related incident. "Police confirmed with CBS News Atlanta that all four victims are related in some way to the male suspect," CBS News Atlanta reported. Further information is pending as the Gwinnett County Police Department continues with their ongoing investigation.
