On a busy Saturday morning, a severe crash involving a rolled-over semitruck brought Interstate 10 in West El Paso to a standstill, injuring four individuals. Occurring at approximately 8:40 a.m. near Canutillo's Redd Road, the collision led to an extensive closure of the highway's eastbound lanes. According to statements by the El Paso Fire Department obtained by KFOX-TV, the injured parties were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All lanes of I-10 East were thoroughly closed at Artcraft Road, causing significant traffic congestion to quickly build up past Transmountain Road. As reported by the El Paso Times, efforts to clear the wreckage have been ongoing, but officials have yet to provide a definite timeline for when the road will be safely reopened to the public.
The Texas Department of Transportation urged motorists to look for alternative routes as delays extended throughout the day. As of 5:30 p.m., closures remained in effect with traffic backing up as far as Los Mochis, as per posts by the El Paso Police Department's traffic division shared by KTSM. Late in the evening, I-10 East at Redd Road finally reopened around 7 p.m., almost ten hours after the initial accident.
