On an ordinary Saturday morning in Clermont County, a severe traffic incident unfolded, resulting in four individuals being rushed to the hospital. The two-car collision, which took place shortly before 10 a.m. on State Route 749 in Pierce Township, is currently under scrutiny by the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Batavia Post. WDNT revealed that a 2013 Hyundai Accent, helmed by a 41-year-old woman named Jessie Herndon from Bethel, strayed into the opposite lane and collided with a 2017 GMC Yukon, steered by Kyla Young, aged 26, hailing from Amelia.
According to the preliminary findings shared by the Batavia Post, provided by WHIO, Herndon's Hyundai veered to the left, impacting the GMC and sending it off the south side of the road. Both Herndon and her passenger, Sally Patrick, 34, from Ripley, suffered serious injuries warranting urgent attention at UC Medical Center. Tending to the scene, alongside the Highway Patrol, were units from the Pierce Township Police and Fire Departments as well as EMS.
On the other side of the tragic mishap, the occupants of the GMC sustained injuries that were deemed less severe. Kyla Young and her 27-year-old passenger, Aaron Young, associated by proximity with Amelia, were also transported to UC Medical Center, as per WCPO. After the crash, traffic on State Route 749 came to a halt but was subsequently restored to its usual flow as the area was cleared.
As of now, the crash remains an ongoing puzzle, with the Batavia Post actively piecing together what occurred that morning. They have yet to publicly deduce the cause of the crash or whether any charges are to be brought forward. The authorities' response was ample, with additional support from the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Tarvin Auto Service, painting a picture of a community that rallies in the face of adversity to provide aid where it's due. Updates on this incident are expected as investigators continue to piece together the sequence that led to these unfortunate events.
