Parents in Nevada County can now access free classes through the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health program, offering guidance on newborn care, CPR, and other essential skills. "Becoming a parent brings both excitement and uncertainty, and families deserve support during this important transition," said Jeana McHugh, the program coordinator, according to the Nevada County.

McHugh added that the classes aim to help parents navigate early parenthood with confidence and community. "These classes are designed to help parents feel more confident, prepared, and connected," she said, emphasizing the program’s role in supporting families during this life stage, as reported by the Nevada County.

Nevada County’s Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health program offers free resources for expectant and new parents. The program includes a four-session course called "Becoming Us," which covers communication and expectations for parents-to-be. Other classes include "Prenatal Breastfeeding," "Baby Basics," and "Infant/Child CPR." A Community Baby Shower is scheduled for September 16 to provide baby essentials and parenting guidance. Key dates and registration information are available on the program’s website or by calling 530-847-8293.
