
A 45-year-old Chicago man is now facing a first-degree murder charge after police tracked him down in Schiller Park in connection with a 2020 shooting on the city’s Southwest Side, authorities said. Chicago police identified the suspect as Victor Garcia and said the killing happened in the Gage Park neighborhood on June 21, 2020.
According to FOX 32 Chicago, Chicago police took Garcia into custody on Friday in Schiller Park, and he has been charged with first-degree murder. The station reported he was identified as the suspect in the June 21, 2020 shooting on the 5500 block of S. Fairfield Avenue and was scheduled to appear in court Saturday for a detention hearing.
Victim identified in 2020 reports
As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim was 40-year-old Alberto Fayre-Estrada, who was shot during an argument in an alley and later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. Sun-Times coverage said area detectives opened a homicide investigation after he died that night.
